Florida Alligator Up-close
I had never seen an alligator so bold at Sawgrass Lake Park in Pinellas Park, FL that it had come completely out of the water to lay next to the sidewalk that many of the park's visitors walk up and down when visiting the park. Seeing this, I grabbed my camera and decided to go check him out. As soon as I walked towards him, he decided to check me out and started walking directly towards me. He walked almost to the other side of the sidewalk before he stopped and stared at me for several minutes. He allowed me to get some great close-ups with my telephoto lens; yes I'm not quite as close as I look. He lost interest in me though, and just walked away from me down to the water and swam away. In the mean time my girlfriend is about ten feet behind me, behind a tree peaking out to see if I'm still there or not. Thankfully I was, and I have some great photos to prove that I had a close encounter that many people don't have the opportunity to have close up.
